Our Programs

We believe that family comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s a four-legged friend covered in fur, but it’s always those who love, support, and accept you that makes you family. We believe that people do not choose to be homeless and nobody should feel like remaining homeless is the only option to stay with their family.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 567,715 persons experienced homelessness in a single night in 2019.  Additionally, as many as 25%* of these people have dogs or cats. Through our programs, you will join a community helping to change that. Together, we can be somebody’s stranger and provide resources to those humans and pets experiencing homelessness and comfort to their families who can no longer help.

PEOPLE & PAW PACKS

A simple bag of supplies and snacks for pets and their owners can go a long way. Also inside the bag is our information so recipients can contact us for more resources. We are looking for groups or organizations to host a supply drive event, during which your participants will assemble bags and then keep the bags for distributing in your own community. Contact us to schedule an event!

Annie and Millie’s Place is exploring options to provide overnight shelter to humans and pets in need. We understand that Co-Sheltering people and their animal companions together is beneficial for both the human and the animal. Our work to advocate for Co-Sheltering in all communities is at the heart of our mission to keep families of all forms side-by-side.

CO-SHELTERING:
Our ultimate goal

SUPPLY OUTREACH

We work to bring resources like pet food and supplies directly to people in need. Please contact us directly to arrange a location for pick up of what it is you need for your pet. If you would like to support this outreach by providing an in-kind donation, see our wish list here.

PET VETERINARY CARE

We are glad to be able to help off-set the veterinary costs for people and pets in need, as funding allows. If you’d like to help us help them, please select “Annie’s Assistance” when donating. Click here to donate specifically to this fund!

PET FOSTER CARE

Clinics are scheduled and advertised through referral agencies and serve people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Inquire here.

Pet Services Offered: The Street Dog Coalition, in partnership with Annie and Millie’s Place, will be offering free physical exams, vaccinations, parasite control, spay/neuter vouchers, oral hygiene coaching, pet supplies, pet nail clippings, and more... Dogs should be on leashes and cats in carriers.

Working through Longmont Humane Society and Until They’re Home (and other agencies on a case-by-case basis) we coordinate foster care for people experiencing homelessness who need to take care of themselves by admission to detox, rehab, hospital and short term jail sentences. We do our best to accommodate the requests as we are able.

IF YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO CAN BE A PET FOSTER FOR SOMEONE IN NEED, please contact us for more information including the application.

Annie and Millie’s Place is an IRS 501(c)3 approved organization.
