No One Should Have to Choose Between Their Pet and Shelter
Our mission is to keep humans experiencing homelessness together with their fur family by evolving pet-friendly solutions, programs, and resources.
Annie and Millie’s Place was founded on a simple, essential idea: people and their pets belong together, no matter what challenges life brings.
We are a passionate team dedicated to keeping our unhoused neighbors united with their animal companions. Through temporary foster care, we give pet parents the peace of mind to pursue housing, healthcare, or employment. We assist them in caring for their pets by providing emergency food and supplies, and connecting their pets to essential veterinary care. Beyond direct support, we advocate at the local and state level to expand pet-friendly resources and shelters, ensuring no one is forced to choose between a roof over their head and the friend they love.
Temporary Foster Care
When life throws a hurdle, pet parents shouldn't have to face it alone. We arrange safe, loving, temporary foster homes for pets so their owners can freely pursue medical care, housing opportunities, employment, or personal recovery without worrying about losing their best friend. Learn more >
Veterinary Care & Wellness
Keeping pets healthy is key to keeping families together. We connect unhoused neighbors with essential veterinary services, spay/neuter resources, and critical medical treatments to ensure their animal companions stay safe, healthy, and by their side.
We partner with The Street Dog Coalition to offer pop-up clinics in our community offering free physical exams, vaccinations, parasite control, oral hygiene coaching, nail clipping, and more. Clinics are scheduled and advertised through referral agencies and serve people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Contact us for more information >
Emergency Pet Supplies
Basic necessities should never be a barrier to pet ownership. A simple bag of supplies and snacks for pets and their owners can go a long way. We distribute emergency pet food, crates, leashes, harnesses, winter gear, and everyday supplies directly to pet parents on the streets or in temporary living situations, as well as at our pop-up clinics.
Donations are welcome and always needed! Learn more >
Community & State Advocacy
Direct care is only half the battle. We advocate at local and state levels to break down systemic barriers, working with local governments, housing providers, and shelters to expand pet-friendly policies and bring permanent solutions to human-animal homelessness.
Our work to advocate for Co-Sheltering in all communities is at the heart of our mission to keep families of all forms side-by-side.
OUR LOGO: What it means
The upside down heart is our family, a little "upside down" at the loss of Annie. The four toes are her four kids, her most precious loves. Together the heart and toes make the paw print, representing Millie, Annie’s beloved dog. The heart is hers, holding her passion for her family and all those in need. The house, with the wagging tail of welcome, is the vision for Annie and Millie's Place which holds her memory and inspiration. The foundation it stands on is our faith that our story matters and will be used for good for others.
